MitoRx is redefining the treatment paradigm for people living with high-risk obesity

About Us

At MitoRx, our mission is to support patients with metabolically unhealthy obesity through the development of first-in-class, targeted small-molecule therapies that restore mitochondrial health.

Our lead asset, MTRX31, is designed to rebalance carbohydrate and fat oxidation to support healthy metabolism – and has the potential to deliver durable, quality weight loss while addressing the underlying drivers of cardiometabolic disease. By targeting a mitochondrial mechanism rather than suppressing appetite, we aim to establish healthy fat-specific weight loss that preserves lean mass, improves body composition, increases insulin sensitivity, and helps prevent serious cardiometabolic comorbidities, including type 2 diabetes, MASH, and cardiovascular disease.

Headquartered in Harwell Oxford, in the UK, with research operations in Cambridge, MitoRx was spun out of the University of Exeter in 2021 and is led by an experienced management team with a strong track record in drug development.
